Once upon a time…..

In 1990 Herb Gorden opened a small retail computer store in New Orleans. This store was the definitive “hole in the wall” type of store. So small in fact that it had room only for one employee, Jerome Haden. With the success of New Orleans first discount computer store, “Computer Discounters” moved to a bigger location in 1991. Continued success brought multiple locations in the New Orleans area. In 1999 the company expanded even further, purchasing a small Mexico monitor refurbishing company. The newly renamed company – “Computers Of Mexico” became one of the largest sellers of refurbished computer monitors in the world. The business plan was to bring used monitors from the United States, refurbish them, and then sell them worldwide to primarily second and third world countries.

In early 2005, the operation in Mexicali, Mexico was closed due to changes in the used monitor market. Operations were moved to our 54,000 sq. ft. warehouse in New Orleans. Monitors were no longer refurbished, just separated and sorted, and shipped worldwide to be refurbished in lower wage countries.

In August 2005 the New Orleans warehouse was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and has not yet been replaced.

Since Hurricane Katrina, Computers Of Mexico has focused on brokering used computer and electronic equipment by the container or truckload, primarily
for export outside of the United States. We have also expanded into other consumer and industrial products that need to be moved outside of the USA.

within this marketplace. Any products we offer for sale are either owned by us, or we have a contractual relationship with the owner of the goods we are selling.
